I don’t know if you’ve heard about BlackBerry spy software. It’s a program that allows you to see information about a BlackBerry on the Internet. You can see the calls the BlackBerry has made, the text messages it sends, and other similar things.

As soon as it was made available to the public, it became very controversial. Many people thought it would allow others to invade their privacy. The fact that there was a lot of misinformation about it just made matters worse. For example, some people think that if you buy it and install it on your BlackBerry, you can use it to listen to people´s conversations in their own BlackBerries.

As time goes by, I expect the paranoia go away and that the benign uses of BlackBerry spy software become more known.

For example, I installed on a BlackBerry that I gave to my dad. Why? Because my dad is old and I worry about him. He is still strong for his age, but nevertheless, I feel much better when I know where he is and what he is doing. Also, I know that the world he lived in was very different from today’s. And I know that there are many people that would like to take advantage of his lack of understanding of some things to try to get money out of him. For example, by selling him things that he doesn´t need or to sign him up for “special offers.”

However, I know he’s got a pride to defend. I can’t keep calling him all the time or ask him to call me to ask permission to do this or that thing. Doing so will make him feel old and useless, and I love him too much to make him lose the dignity he has. That’s why I use BlackBerry spy software to keep track of what he is doing or where he is going.

If you think using BlackBerry spy software is invasive, answer this question for me. If your dad was very old and he kept talking about this beautiful woman he met many years ago, and you found out that the woman in question died, would you tell him or would you let him keep his memories intact? I wouldn’t, even if it is technically deceiving or keeping him from finding the truth. Old people often have little more than their memories and their pride, and I find it incredibly cruel to take them away from them.

Anyway, that’s what I use BlackBerry spy software for and I will until my dad passes away.
